Kids in the field at an adult-child dove quota hunt in Region 6.

On Saturday Sept. 14, Region 6 (south central Georgia) in coordination with Georgia Department of Corrections’ Indian Ford Farm staff near Lyons, Ga. held an Adult/Child Quota dove hunt.  We had 48 hunters participate in the hunt.  Hunters were provided a pre-hunt lunch, safety talk, wildlife education presentation and an excellent dove hunt, with several hunting parties taking a limit of doves.  It was a huge success.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Greg Waters gave a presentation on a summary of the previous furbearer trapping season and this year’s new WMA trapping opportunities to the Georgia Trapper’s Association Convention.  There were nearly 300 people in attendance at the event in Augusta, Ga.

Opening weekend in Region 4 (west central Georgia) had an estimated 730 hunters hunting on 13 managed dove fields. Quota hunt participation was at 63 percent, and an estimated 2,875 dove were harvested on opening day, Sept. 7.
