Calling all kids (and their parents) who enjoy art and birds! Georgia’s 20th annual Youth Birding Competition T-shirt Art Contest is open, inviting children and teens from around the state to celebrate birds.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Participants are asked to draw or paint a native Georgia bird that has not been featured on a previous Youth Birding Competition T-shirt (you’ll find the list here).
- Artwork must be flat (not 3D) and can be created on paper or canvas.
- Complete this online form and upload a full-frame photo of your artwork from your phone or camera by Jan. 31.
Prizes will be awarded in four age divisions: primary (pre-K-second grades), elementary (third-fifth), middle school (sixth-eighth) and high school. Each division will have a first-place winner, and one of those blue-ribbon entries will be selected as the grand prize winner.
The grand-prize artwork will appear on the 2026 Youth Birding Competition T-shirt, and also reward the artist with a $100 Amazon gift card. The other first-place winners will each receive a $60 gift card, and runners-up, a $40 gift card.
2026 middle school runner-up: willow flycatcher by Sophia Gu of SKA Academy of Art and Design in Duluth
